Sheet Metal Installer I (Yuba City, Natomas/Sacramento, Oakley)

Under the direct supervision of the HVAC Manager, the Sheet Metal Apprentice duties are:

· Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.

· Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications or directions.

· Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.

· Performs assigned work on assembly lines such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.

· Must be comfortable and capable of climbing and working at various heights using ladders.

· Must be able to properly tie off and use fall protection systems as required by safety standards.

· Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs.

· Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal fabrication.

· Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.

· Maintains clean and orderly workspace.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Strong mathematical aptitude.

· Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.

· Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.

· Ability to follow directions.

· Ability to read work orders to understand product assignment.

ALL POSITIONS

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

· High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
· 1+ year experience as an HVAC or Sheet Metal technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC and Sheet Metal field.
· Authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
· Working knowledge of boiler systems.
· Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
· Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
· Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
· Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
· Ability to work in confined spaces.
